A newly introduced regulation on the storage and contained of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS or “forever chemicals”) is impacting the commercial insurance space.

Ahead of the new reporting requirements taking effect on January 31, 2025, the Staebler Blog wrote about how Canada’s “Forever Chemicals” Law Impacts Commercial Insurance.

That blog post led to a journalist working on a story for the Insurance Institute of Canada’s Quarterly Review connecting with Staebler Insurance for a broker’s perspective.

As an expert in commercial risk management, Anita Flootman Paterson, Vice President, Commercial Solutions, was quoted throughout the published article.

Anita shared some prudent advice and emphasized the value of a commercial insurance broker.

“We look at proactive risk management,” said Anita. “We can guide clients with respect to implementing best practices for PFAS containment and disposal.”
