Own a home? You should have a Homeowner’s Policy which also covers:

Outdoor Equipment

The building itself, including any outdoor swimming pools and attached equipment. This also includes outdoor trees, shrubs and plants.

Detached garages, sheds, or outbuildings.

Condo Insurance

Own a condo? You should have a Condominium Policy which also covers:

Upgrades

Any upgrades to your condo, things like counter tops or cabinets that you couldn’t take with you if you left.

Condo Corp

The condo corporation is responsible for insuring the building itself, but if their insurance is inadequate each condo unit owner can be asked to kick in. You have an allowance just in case.
