Here we are: All isolated and distanced from each other in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken hold of our lives and changed things for everyone. It is an extremely proud moment in transportation.

We are fiercely proud of the many transport companies and the truck drivers that are forging on and serving our country by delivering the much-needed goods in the grocery stores. We are proud of the sacrifices they are making by not being with their families during this scary time.

We are proud of the individuals who are rallying for drivers by offering free meals, places to rest, and are going out of their way to show respect and appreciation.

During these challenging times, we have worked closely with our insurance partners to advocate for flexibility, options, and even payment relief. We are proud that insurers have stepped up and announced changes that directly help clients. Things continue to unfold fast and we are staying on top of these updates.

We are also so very proud of our clients. They deal with so many things in a day and now they have to deal with this. Although they are an essential service there are many drivers that are afraid to deliver freight and have the chance of becoming infected. Although they are exempt from self-isolation on their return to Canada, they cannot take the chance of infecting their families and come back for their reset in hotels, by themselves. That’s just too much for some of them. And for the ones who are doing it, they are true heroes.

This is so unprecedented and so serious and so many are unsure of rules that change not only daily, but hourly. We cannot tell you how it makes me feel to see so many in our industry sacrificing and, pardon the pun, going the extra mile.

We can’t forget about the operation and support staff at trucking companies.  Physical distancing and handwashing and practicing all the safety measures they are day in and day out, to keep the fleet running. These folks are our heroes too.

We are also proud of the associations that are constantly updating the industry as new measures and procedures are put into place. We are happy to pass these on in the hopes that you find them helpful.

We believe in our country, we believe in the trucking industry and we believe we will come out of this stronger and smarter. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy, and that we all see the other side of this soon!
