Spring has sprung in Ontario with melting snow, warmer weather, and dry roads. Naturally, drivers are beginning to ask when they can take the snow tires off their car.

To maintain your snow tire discount and coverage, most insurance companies require you to have four winter tires installed on your vehicle between November and April. One insurer specifically states November 15 to March 31.

However, as we know, April can be a volatile weather month with some days feeling like early summer and the next there could be a post-winter snow and/or freezing rainstorm.

Some experts say it is best to keep your snow tires on until there is a weeklong stretch of temperatures exceeding 7 degrees Celsius. According to the forecast, that will be after this week.
