If you own a CONDO:
You should have a Condo Insurance policy which also covers:
Any upgrades to your condo, things like counter tops or cabinets that you couldn't take with you if you left.
The condo corporation is responsible for insuring the building itself, but if their insurance is inadequate each condo unit owner can be asked to kick in. You have an allowance just in case.
The condo corporation could also ask you to pay a share of any repair costs for common areas which your insurance would cover

If you RENT:
There is no coverage for the building itself because your landlord insures that.
